Kalkan is an upmarket destination with a great atmosphere. The streets meander past small boutiques as they wind their way down to the marina. The climate is excellent and the Turkish food is amazing. There are many things to see and do in the area including visits to ancient sites, sports, incredible beaches and boat charter to name but a few. Kalkan is a very old town with it's share of history. It was once a very important sea port and remains a fishing port right up to today.
Whilst the town is unspoilt, it would be untrue to say that tourism is not the main focus. Tourism is the principal industry now in this area but it has been done brilliantly, merging the days of old with our modern times with a unique synergy. This is a heritage site and nothing can be done to change the old town, the Ottoman history will remain intact.
Kalkan nestles at the base of the Taurus mountains and sea and mountain views alike are stunning.
